This week, we are excited to focus on Open-mindedness for our Positivity Project word of the week. This means being willing to consider new ideas and try new things. It involves looking at situations from all sides and not jumping to conclusions.
Student Spotlight: Celebrating Last Week's Achievements
We want to give a special shout-out to these students who showed great teamwork and character last week. Their efforts have made a positive impact on our school community! Maverick Griggs showed excellent teamwork by collaborating with a classmate to put a puzzle together. Colton Rea demonstrated curiosity in the classroom by actively exploring and engaging with new ideas. Our amazing Ms. Johnson & Ms. Jane's 1st Grade Class worked together as a team throughout the week, showing great collaboration. Giacomo George is a curious and enthusiastic learner, always excited about learning new things. Daniel Rapp showed great curiosity about books and has developed a love for reading. Ava Richbourg demonstrated fantastic teamwork by helping her group develop a plan to complete a classroom challenge. Eli Steelman showed great sportsmanship during a gaga game at recess.
Important Reminders
First, I want to share some exciting news about our school clubs! I'm thrilled to announce that our new Music Teacher, Ms. Walker, has the Seadog Singers up and running again. The students have been hard at work, and we can't wait to hear what they've been working on!
Regarding our Crochet Club, we have had an overwhelming amount of interest, and because of this, our club hosted by our Occupational Therapist, Ms. Karin Ernst, is currently full. We thank everyone for their interest. A letter with more details will be sent home to those who were interested in joining.

Effective Thursday, July 24, 2025, we will be switching our student email system from NCEdCloud to Classlink. This change is designed to streamline your access to all the tools you use for learning.
What does this mean for you?
You will need to change the way you log in to access your school email and other online portals. Please follow these new steps carefully:
Go to our school website: Visit carteretcountyschools.org.
Click on "Portal": You will find the "Portal" link in the upper-right corner of the homepage.
Login with your new credentials: When presented with the login screen, please use the following format for your username and password:
Username: Your two-digit graduation year followed by your first initial, middle initial, and the first seven letters of your last name. Do not use any hyphens, dashes, or spaces.
Example (last name 7 letters or less): If you are an 8th-grade student this year, and your name is Mickey James Mouse, your username would be 30mjmouse.
Example (last name 8 or more letters): If you are a 6th-grade student this year, and your name is Peter Parker Spider-Man, your username would be 32ppspiderm. (Note: the hyphen is removed, and it is only the first 7 letters of the last name)
Password: Your full student ID number.
Please make sure to remember these new login details. If you encounter any issues after July 24th, please reach out to your teacher or the school's IT support for assistance.

Ms. Wilkie is a familiar face to many of us and brings a wealth of experience and a passion for elementary education. Her first love was being a Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher for over 16 years, where she shaped the foundational learning of countless young students. She has taught in both Craven and Carteret Counties, gaining diverse insights.
Most recently, Ms. Wilkie served as an Assistant Principal at MCPS for two years. We are so fortunate to have her return to Beaufort Elementary, and she is incredibly excited to be a Seadog again!
Please join me in giving a very warm welcome home to Ms. Wilkie!
